A Year of Aging with Attitude

That was the year that was! We’ve had the privilege of sharing Inspiring Stories of determination, courage and creativity all year.  Here’s just a small sample of how we’ve been aging with attitude.

…like 102-year old Dr. Gladys McGarrey and her “Five L’s”

We don’t need to conserve our energy; we need to direct it wisely. Holding back doesn’t work, because life doesn’t hold back. Life’s energy cannot be saved, it has to be used.

Anthony Burton, a retiree and talented artist who loves Morning Stretch, had this to say…

To me, it means follow your instincts. And it has to be positive! If you follow your gut, your true gut is not negative, your true soul is a positive soul.

Andrea Hancock is all about spreading joy –  as a cabaret style entertainer or at her Senior Planet classes. Here’s her take:

Janice Malone, a Purpose Prize winner for her work  helping small businesses in the Black Community, lives by this:

  1. My Aging with an Attitude is living every day since I have retired as the best time of my life. I’m taking classes at the library and at an adult education college. Traveling with a tour group for women, cruises with a local business, bus trips and more. I have been taking zoom classes with programs through my health insurance. And I have been encouraging others that complain that they are “old” to get out, get up and get moving because they will feel so much better mentally and physically.

  2. My take on Aging with attitude is to live life to the fullest. If you don’t use it, you lose it. I love interacting with people, walking my dog, exercising helps me keep the blood flowing and muscles moving. Love looking up recipes and preparing new dishes, planting flowers and a few vegetables in the summer. Attending church on Sunday and Wednesday for Bible study also play solitaire and solve puzzles. Live life.

  3. I age with grace by getting out and volunteering with several organizations to learn about the world and gaining knowledge of people I don’t know or judge like a new pen pal. Enlarge your mind with new ideas and adventures. Life is to short to limited yourself to just your world view.
