Making of an Independent Film: A case study of Entre Nos with Directors Paola Mendoza and Gloria La Morte.
Entre Nos is a narrative feature based on true events. It tells the story of Mariana, whose life takes a devastating turn when, after she brings her two children from Colombia to New York to live with her husband in Queens, he abandons her to fend for herself.
They discuss the process of the making of the film, collaboration, funding, and how they brought something new to the familiar story of the search for the American dream. Clips from the film will also be shown. Entre Nos won Special Mention at the 2009 Tribeca film festival and awards at the Troia and Newport Film Festivals. It has played at numerous other international festivals, and will be released in 2010.
The panel is part of Tribeca Film Institute at The New School, a new series that presents leaders from film and digital media production, financing, and distribution. Co-sponsored by the Tribeca Film Institute and the Department of Media Studies and Film at The New School.
