Seniors, Medical exams and Screenings.

Many seniors who go for their Dr. visits are not getting the information they need about the examination or tests they have just received.  They are very accepting of the doctor's positive or negative response to the exam which was just completed.  Questions that should be asked about   the tests and the numbers are never really discussed. Some seniors feel that accepting medications without question is acceptable without knowing why. Doctors don't  always thoroughly consider all ailments since they deal with them on the premise that  they are just a sign of aging and ignore some of the evidence.  Doctors are not Gods they have to learn every day as we do about our illnesses and our bodies.  Finally, we need to ask  our doctors questions that should  always be answered, to our satisfaction, before we take medications and have operations unnecessarily

Seniors, Medical exams and Screenings

Thank you, thank you, thank you ! I really appreciate your thoughts and advice.

Patients not asking questions to doctors

I see this as a two part problem, first, many people think that the doctor knows all the answers. Second, often people really do not know what to ask. I would suggest that as a standard statement people say to the doctor-"what should I be asking you about the drug" as an opening to further questions.

great post

Thanks for share it

Seniors and medical exams

For me the problem is that I don't know the question to ask sometimes until after I have left the doctor's office. Then what do you do? Call the doctor. Fat chance. If the minutes in the doctor's office are now down to the minimum, is it likely that doctors will return calls to answer questions? We need a revolution!
